September 14, 2019 - 9:15 am
THIS IS A TEST FOR SEPTEMBER ONLY: the meeting will be held at 9:15-11:15 am at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in the Arboretum on Saturday, September 14th.
You are invited to meet Jennifer Richmond, founder of Truth In Between, She is a writer, blogger and letter curator. Truth In Between seeks to connect people of different ideological views to engage in a letter exchange that leads to greater understanding and empathy, per the company’s tagline – “searching for context through correspondence”. She publishes these letters and some of her own writing in her Medium publication. Her most recent articles can also be found in Areo Magazine and Modern Diplomacy.
Jennifer’s Truth in Between blog has led to significant opportunities.
She is currently working on a book with W.F. Twyman Jr that explores today’s polarization, focusing specifically on the divisive issues of identity politics and racism, and what it means to be an American. Additionally, she is working on a TEDx event to be held at Google in the new year called “crossing boundaries”. She also is designing a high school curriculum on critical thinking that will be rolled out in 2020.
Jennifer has lived all over Asia, including Myanmar, Thailand, Indonesia and China. She received her B.A. in Asian Cultures from Trinity University, her M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and did her doctoral studies in International Relations at the University of Texas at Austin.
Jennifer has much to tell of her journey to becoming an author and speaker. We hope you will join us and learn all about it!
National Speakers Association members are FREE to attend.
Cost for non-members is only $25. Please bring cash or check payable to NSA- Austin.
RSVP REQUIRED: email@example.com
We need to know how many people are coming so that we can have enough chairs and handouts. Please purchase food and beverage in the Barnes & Noble cafe before you head upstairs to the music area conference room.
Feel free to bring a short piece of your writing to share with the group for productive feedback. Print out 10 copies in 12 point type or larger, as we will be reading each other’s work.
