Scott spent the first 25 years of his career as a Church Growth Consultant traveling to over 300 cities. In more recent years he was an award winning Managing Area Directors for BNI (Business Networking International), taking his 45 chapters to the top 2% internationally in growth, retention and referral revenue ($36 million annually).

His parents are immigrants from Oklahoma and he was the first native-born Texan in the Carley family. He was raised in Midland, spent 10 years in Lubbock and moved to Austin in 2003.
